Materials and Techniques:

Macaron wool (Merino short fiber wool), wool pellets, silk thread, DMC cotton thread, metallic thread, aluminum wire, yarn, non-woven fabric base, paper clay.

Artist’s Statement:

Taiwanese myths and legends are rich in symbolic meanings. By extracting these elements and reinterpreting them as guardian spirits, I integrate them into functional home décor pieces to protect and enrich daily life. Through these creations, I hope to bring the unique charm of Taiwanese folklore closer to modern homes.

A Formosan sika deer ornament that blesses travelers with safety on their journeys.

Hǎi Wēng: Guardian of Wisdom
A sperm whale bookend embodying the sea god’s wisdom, aiding in the growth of knowledge.

Dì Niú: Guardian of Sleep
A Taiwanese water buffalo night light ensuring a restful, undisturbed night’s sleep.

Jīn Líng Lǐ: Guardian of Work
A Taiwanese pangolin tray, a reliable companion that ensures smooth work progress.

Chán Chú Jīng: Guardian of Wealth
A Taiwanese toad coin tray that safeguards finances, attracting wealth and prosperity.

Huǒ Lín È: Guardian of Relationships
A Penghu crocodile storage box that protects relationships, ensuring enduring love.
